A relatively new wheel which is getting more and more popular is the the 6UL made by 949 racing.
These wheels are originally designed for Mazda but you see them more and more on Honda Civics these days. They are made in both 15 and 16 inch. Fun fact about these wheels is that they have double valves. this might sound a bit useless but it is the easiest way to fill up your wheels with nitrogen.
Another popular wheel is the Gram Lights 57s.
In spite of the name it is not the most light weight wheel ever. They are a lot lighter than the regular wheels though and you can get them in special colors like Neo chrome (shown above).
De AME TM-02 is also a much seen wheel for time attacks.
It is a relatively new wheel and the wheels are made in the same way as Enkei wheels. They are not seen that much in Holland though which is a shame. But we will see in the future wether this wheel will become more common.
A set that we should not forget is the Volk TE37.
These are forged wheels which are not only very light but also very strong. It is one of the reason why you see them a lot on drift cars. The wheels have a design that makes it hard to place them in a specific era. This is why you see them on cars like S30's as well as GTR's.
The Volk RE30 is also a common sight at grassroot time attacks.
An example of cars that use the the Revolution rx7 as shown above. The advantage of these wheels is that they come in many sizes. From Kei cars to Widebody track cars, everybody can find a perfect set.
The Enkei RPF1 is also quite popular.
These are forged in a special way which makes them lighter than regular cars. They might not be the lightest wheels but moneywise you get a lot.
One of the most lightweight wheels on the market are the Desmond Regamaster EVO or Spoon SW388s. The Regamaster is known for the fact that it is always white. Spoon bought these wheels and painted them black and sold them as the SW388.
These wheels can be found in many sizes . They are most common on Honda's but they are also made in different sizes with lower offsets. Because of this you see them often on Skylines and Elises's as well.
Another example of lightweight wheels are magnesium wheels, like the MS-01MAG made by mazdasports.
Magnesium is lighter and more expensive than the average wheel and have their own advantages and disadvantages. The advantages of magnesium wheels are the increased acceleration, handling and steering reactions. They are also stronger and less easy to bend. Next to that they are also known for getting rid of the heat of the brakes better than average wheels. The biggest disadvantage of magnesium wheels is that if they will bend you cant fix them anymore and it is the end of the wheel right away.

These wheels weigh around 2.76 kilo and cost around 8000 euro the set. Personally i doubt wether these wheels can handle the strength. I think they are good enough for the perfect roads of a track, but as soon as you are gonna drive it on the road with all its potholes then you will break them sooner or later.
Weds sport also sells wheels with only the center piece in carbon fiber but it still seems like it a dangerous venture to drive around with these wheels. However no one at low profile has carbon fiber wheels so if you have personal experience then please let us know!
There are many more lightweight wheels and this is only the tip of the ice berg. It might be that there will be a part 2 about lightweight wheels soon.
