Tips for your tyres

Today we will discuss several tips regarding tyre choice, pressure and more when you are planning to drift.
When it comes to drifting we can say one thing, the more power you make, the bigger and wider your wheels can get. When you put 18 inch wheels on your non turbo s12 you will probably get some problems spinning then. When you take some 15 inch wheels you will be a lot better.
Drifting on semislicks is most certainly possible, but only recommendable when you want to drift on high speeds. As a beginner it is better to just take cheap tyres. These will hold out just fine.
Tyre pressure is dependable on your driving style, but on average, people put around 1.7/1.8 bar in new tyres when drifting. If you drift on older wheels, you should lower the pressure a bit more, this to prevent the tyres from laminating. Laminating is when whole pieces of profile will get off at once. With a lower pressure you will prevent this.
When drifting on oxygen you will notice that the tyre pressure will rise when drifing. Keep checking the tyre pressure. When the pressure reaches above the 2.4 bar you can best release some air from the tyres to prevent it from blowing. Putting nitrogen in your tyres is also an option.
When you see that your tyres are almost completely worn out you should change them right away. When your tyre blows you will damage your wheels and it is harder to replace your tyres or to jack up your car.

In case your car is alligned wrong and one side wears out faster than the other you can switch tyres halfway. This case you can continue longer on the same set of wheels. Just make sure you will not do this while driving regularly on a wet track with directional tyres. However, when you are planning to wear out your tyres anyways during the session it should not be a problem.
