Trackcheck: the Kreuzau downhill dash
The Kreuzau downhill dash is a track tipped off one of our readers. As low profile likes to do some downhill racing we decided to go there. The place was near the lovely village of Bilstein.
The track starts nicely with high quality asphalt and some S corners. The stripes are good quality and there is not much traffic. Because of this you can practise taking the perfect corners.
After about one kilometer the downhill starts and there are some hairpin turns. These are pretty nice as the incline is quite steep. The roads itself are pretty safe as they have some strong guard rails. However oncoming traffic is hard to see. This is a problem of most of the tracks so that is not really a disadvantage.
The main problem we had is that the bottom half of the track is in a suburb. Even though Low profile realises that streetracing will always be dangeres, we will never race in an urban area, because this will have too much risk. Because of this we have not approved the downhill dash.
