Engines: Honda

In In this post we will discuss all honda blocks that get used for motorsport there are more, but they are not getting used for racing. The most fun fact about honda engines is that they are like lego, almost everything can be swapped for other parts of the same series.  In

B Series

The B series is the most used Series for motorsports and is often praised for its vtec mechanism. the power is usually between 150 and 200 horsepower and the rev limiter is around the 10.000De B serie is een van de meest gebruikte honda blokken en alom geprezen door zijn vtec mechanisme welke de meeste B serie blokken hebben. Het vermogen verschilt tussen de 150 en 200 pk en de toerenbegrenzer gaat bij sommige B series tot nabij de 10.000.

Note: This engine uses the same block as the Integra Type R (B18CR), which is taller than the B16a block (by approx 17mm), but with a crank the same stroke as the b16a. It uses longer rods to accommodate for this, which is why the Rod/Stroke ratio is higher than a standard B16.

C series

The C series is from the Honda NSX. There are also several Cseries from the Legend, but we will not discuss those.

From:
  • 1991-1996 Honda NSX

Data
  • displacement 2,994 cc
  • Power: 270 pk  & 285 N·m
  • Rev limiter: 9000 rpm

 C32B

From:
  • 1997-2005 Honda NSX
Data
  • displacement: 3,294 cc
  • Power: 290 pk
  • Rev limiter: 9000 prm

D series

First we will discuss the DOHC. There have been many discussions which one is better, With a dohc you can play with the cam shaft angles, while this is not neccecary with a perfectly adjusted one. Also a SOHC has less rotating mass. The SOHC has a better combustion chamber which makes it a better car for f/i goals.
