24-3 The Low Profile Loop

Its that time of the year again. The days are getting longer and and everybody it waiting for some better temperatures. So its time for some action! Time to start The Low Profile Loop. The Low Profile Loop is a rally at night in the area of mid west Brabant. Within this area there are several checkpoints which must be found. It's up to you how you want to reach every checkpoint, but plan it well, because the one that is the fastest will win a nice price.

The Low Profile Loop will be held at saturday 24th of march 2012. Contestants can enroll at the  Low Profile Forum. But be quick, as there are only limited places available!

The sunny weather of last few days has been put to good use as some of the members decided to modify their civics a bit.

Trackcheck: san er zu touge

One of our members has been to the san er zu touge in China. Normally we would discuss the pro's and cons of the road and show some pictures, but as the Gopro HD motorsport had to be tested it was decided to make a video. If a picture sais more than a 1000 word, how much does a video say right?
The track itself is a touge that is more than 15 kilometers long and has over a 100 corners from hairpins to sweepers. There are just a few other roads on the mountain so you hardly meet a crossing and except for a Hotel and a tempel there are no buildings on the mountain. Because of this there is hardly any traffic on the mountain. The traffic that is on the mountain is familiar with tougerunners as they honk before every corner. Therefore you know when there will be a car on your track. But dont expect more than 3 cars per hour though.
Except for some concrete pillars there are no guard rails on the touge but don't expect to drop if you fly off the track as there are lots of small trees to prevent you from doing so. Finally watch out for the gutters on the sides of the road, they are about 60 cm deep and you can get stuck pretty badly if you do not watch out when trying to cut corners.

We have heard that one of our members has been to a real touge to test out the Gopro HD Motorsport. We look forward toseeing the results and we will keep you updated as soon as we hear something new.

June = drift month!

As you have seen our website has been improved. We have changed a lot based on the recommendations of our members and readers. The biggest change is that the blog can be read in both Dutch and English. This way our ever increasing foreign audience can enjoy the site just as much as the Dutch people. Except for this we have changed countless things to improve the site.
We will celebrate this in a special way. As you guys have told us you would like to have more drifting articles, we will focus next month only on drifting! Every day we will provide articles that will be about drifting. However, we will need your help. To start next month we want to show some of your action photos! Track action, street drifting, highway manjis, playing around in the snow, mountain roads, its all good! Power is nothing without control

It seems these days that every honda driver swaps his engine for a ridiculous turbo build/k20/b18 and what not. Not everybody though, this driver for example sticks with his roots. Power is nice, but it doesn't mean anything if you can't control it. Because this driver takes high regard of this principle and he does not walk along with the crowd like a fanboy made it a great time to sit down and have a small talk.

A few days ago Low Profile arrived a batch of new stickers. Everybody wanted stickers that bad that after a few hours they were all gone before we could make some good pictures out of it. Next time we will order more!

Practicing in the snow

One of the members of low profile use the afternoon to slide around in the snow. Practicing like this has several advantages, especially for the budget drifter with a slower car.

Check out new roads

Because we have heard about some unknown roads some of the low profile racers have gone on a scouting mission. This time in the north area.

the white devil

The white devil, also known as fog, is for most people reason to stay indoors and only go outside if strictly nessecary and drive with as many lights on as possible. These people are not in line with the Low Profile ideology. According to Low profile you need to give up the location you are familisr with and move yourselve to the unknown, in this case the fog.

The racers paradox

Low Profile has translated a famous Japanese racing story. Its about something that a lot of people seem to forget.

Quick actions ask for quick pictures. When driving at a track gained some heat the racers went directly into scramble mode. After a relatively short cooldown period the drivers could continue without much trouble.

Once in a while everything needs to be updated. This also applies for the low profile tracks. Every marking erodes after a while and it was about time to put some fresh paint on the tarmac. Thats why lp was busy with updating everything for the winterperiod.




It was a lot of work but eventually everything was ready to be used again!

Time attack

Real streetracing does not happen in busy citycenters, in comparison with what several movies and videogames would like to tell you. In Breda for example races happen more around the edges of the city, where curvy roads remind you more of a circuit than boring Holland. These roads are mainly used for two purposes; terminating traffic and Low Profile racers who use these roads for local time attacks.

Blind corners are watched during time attacks so the drivers do not have to worry about traffic and focus on improving their time. 

While making pictures we spotted one of the racers trying to beat his previous record.

An interesting part about these time attacks is that they are recorded on a computer to inform the drivers about their progress. This way it is easy for drivers to learn from their mistakes and improve faster. This makes these trackdays extremely useful as a practise for trackdays for example.
